
Southern Ventilation - Completed Projects
All of the below projects have been completed by our project engineers.
1 Glass Wharf – Temple Quay, Bristol
Having already secured ND3, Southern Ventilation are now providing full airside ventilation ductwork to the massive Temple Quay regeneration project in Bristol. Our Bristol office is managing the entire, design co - ordination, manufacture & installation of the ductwork for what is rapidly becoming known as the city's business hub.
Temple Quay is the focus of significant investment providing bars, restaurants and shops plus surrounding proposed developments such the station redevelopment. This project is set to continue into Summer 2010.
Minehead Hospital
The new £26 million community hospital at Minehead has been designed as part of the “New Horizons” project in the town. The Somerset Primary Care Trust has worked closely with clinical staff and the developer on creating a functional hospital in keeping with the local health requirements.
Southern Ventilation’s Bristol office is managing the project, providing full co –ordination, ductwork manufacture and installation from start to finish. The hospital is due to open later in the year.
Travelodge – Waterloo
Travelodge, the UK hotel chain has begun the development of St Georges House at 195-203 Waterloo Road to create a 284-room budget hotel and 14,000 sq ft of offices. In close proximity to Waterloo train station the hotel is one of many developments, planning to take advantage of the Olympic Games in 2012.
Having competitively tendered for the complete ductwork package, Southern Ventilation were awarded the contract to provide; project management, co – ordination, installation and commissioning for the airside ventilation. Due to commence August 2009 for completion of the second fix in March 2010.
The Museum of Bristol
Bristol City Council has won lottery funding for a £10.3 million transformation of the Bristol Industrial Museum. The development is part of the wider regeneration of the city’s historic harbour side and will tell the unique story of Bristol and its people.
Southern Ventilation have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install the new ventilation ductwork for the project. This is the 3rd major contract Southern Ventilation have won in the Bristol area in the past few months, following on going marketing and growth of the business in the area.
Project Oak – Ministry of Defence
Consequent to successful projects across Ministry of Defence sites in Salisbury, Southern Ventilation are now providing complete co-ordinated ventilation packages for MOD offices at Corsham and Project Oak, Aldershot.
These projects uphold the quality of Southern Ventilations service, whereby fitters under go rigorous security checks, as does the precision of the finished installation. Work on these buildings began in early 2010 with a schedule running through to May 2010.
British American Tobacco
BAT has had a significant presence in Southampton for over 90 years. With production now carried out overseas, Southampton has become the flagship research and development centre in the UK.
The new extension in Southampton will provide research facilities into understanding cigarette smoke chemistry, identifying its toxic constituents, understanding smoking behavior and trying to develop products with lower levels of toxicants in the smoke.
Southern Ventilation start on site in April ’09 providing the full supply air side ductwork package as well as fume extraction ductwork.
Temple Quay ND3 – Bristol
The 73,000 sq m Temple Quay development is already fully let to some of the world's most prominent companies. The success story continues with Temple Quay 3.
The South West of England Regional Development Agency and developer Castlemore Securities Ltd worked in partnership to develop offices, shops, leisure facilities, workspaces, waterside walkways, public areas and squares - a striking new environment for Bristol. Temple Quay provides an unprecedented opportunity to live, work, relax and enjoy one of Europe's most exciting and diverse cities.
Southern Ventilation limited have focused on Bristol as key area for growth and such are delighted to be the ductwork contractor for this project. This represent one of four major contracts in Bristol won in the last few months.
Taunton Hospital Oncology
A £100m deal has been agreed to build a new cancer centre at Taunton's Musgrove Park hospital. The new facilities will save patients in Somerset having to travel to Bristol for treatment. Building work is due to start in this month and the centre is scheduled to open in 2009.
The new centre will house radiotherapy and inpatient oncology facilities, an expanded day case chemotherapy suite and an outpatient clinic. Southern Ventilation relish the projects such as this which promote wellbeing and serve a much needed function in the heart of Somerset. Southern Ventilation expect to have Fitters on site this week to begin the 12 week project.
WPCDC
The Western Primary Care Delivery Centre in Southampton is part of a series of new NHS projects being built across the country. The triangular building is currently underway with Southern Ventilations engineers co-coordinating manufacture drawings for start in the second week in December 08. The ductwork contract is ideal for Southern Ventilation who have a vast degree of experience in Health care projects, understanding the requirement for precision and cleanliness.
Green Park Reading
500 & 550 South Oak Way is an impressive building with brass external elevations, stunning architectural profile and open plan floors. Built within the modern, eco - friendly Green Park it features photovoltaic panels on the north elevation.
This represents a great project for Southern Ventilation, who take a keen interest in green, sustainable developments.Our remit was for the management, manufacture and installation of the ventilation ductwork.
Southmead Hospital
Southmead hospital in Bristol is a project that has been developing since 2005, after lengthy discussions with staff, local authorities and the pubic a design and scheme was finalized based around the original Avon Orthopeadic Centre. The new hospital incorporates revised designs that aim at combating basic hygiene issues that are failing many hospitals in the UK, such as the MRSA 'superbug'.
Southern Ventilation are keen on such projects which demand attention to detail and draw upon knowledge gained on the other NHS projects completed. Our project manager is currently in the process of preparing to start on site. We will update you when this project begins in the coming weeks.
De Vere Village Hotels - Elstree
DeVere Village have 17 hotels across the Uk, each is being transformed into an affordable, design-led hotel with an invidivual vibe of its own. With relaxing bedrooms, swimming pool, gym and buzzing bars and restaurants.
DeVere Elstree is the latest of the DeVere hotel projects currently in progress across the country. Southern Ventilation are proud to have been selected for the third time on a DeVere hotel contract.
Southern Ventilations continued involvement in the DeVere projects is a testament to our project managers and ductwork fitters who have worked hard to deliver these projects to exacting standards
Ministry Of Defence Contracts
Following continuous work on Ministry of Defence sites: Southern Ventilation Limited are pleased to have recently been given the go ahead to provide the entire supply and extract ventilation systems for 5 new projects in Bulford, Perham Down and Larkhilll MOD camps near Salisbury.
This is a testament to the quality systems in place for fitters and sub contractors who must pass vigourous security checks in order to work on such sites. Work on the first 2 buildings started early this month, with a schedule due to last until October.
Christ's College and Pond Meadow School
When planning permission was granted for a major school campus development in Guildford. The redevelopment will provide a state of the art building for Christ's College and new special needs school and hydrotherapy centre, known as Pond Meadow.
The development aims to tackle social exclusion and deliver real benefits for the community. The buildings use innovative heat recovery and design features to provide a sustainable, safe and inspirational environment for pupils. Southern Ventilations CAD team enjoyed working with new/modern principles and products to fit in with the ethos for the buildings design.
Winchester Prison
Southern Ventilation are pleased to announce winning the tender for works to Winchester Prison. The prison is undergoing major refurbishment with a build program expected to last 5 years. Major works include the strip out/replacement of ductwork, safer custody changes to health care first night and detox, a new electrical system, renewal of the fire and general alarms, a new visits complex and pedestrian access at the main gate and the refurbishment of C wing that is suffering from age decay.
Southern Ventilation were specifically identified as a key part of the construction process for our ability to work constantly to program and to a very high standard. The obvious difference with this project over others is the necessity for high security during the whole installation as the prison will undergo works whilst still functioning.
Bovington Tank Museum
Southern Ventilation Limited are delighted to have recently been given the go ahead to provide the entire supply and extract ventilation system for the £15.4 million redevlopment of Bovington Tank Muesum. The new 4,000 sq.m building, has been designed to showcase 34 key vehicles from the museum's total collection.
The Tank Museum in Bovington Dorset houses the world's largest and finest collection of Armoured Fighting Vehicles from unique World War 1 tanks to the latest main battle tank of the British Army - Challenger. With a total of 300 vehicles from over 26 countries. We will keep you updated as the project progresses in the coming months.
Johnson and Johnson - High Wycombe
Southern Ventilation are pleased to announce the commencement of works for 4 buildings, that comprise of administration, production and distribution for Johnson and Johnson. The high profile pharmaceutical company represents one of the many large projects currently underway for Southern Ventilation.
Having been present from an early stage Southern Ventilation were selected for their ability to provide a time and cost efficient solution to the ductwork problem. With the order finalized, Southern Ventilation had fitters on site within 2 days, with ductwork being fitted throughout the first building. The availability of fabrication facilities in Poole and Southampton have meant Southern Ventilation could supply ductwork and labor very quickly as desired by the client, despite the current demand flowing through our workshops at other sites.
Rhydycarr Leisure Centre
Southern Ventilation Limited has been undertaking all the entire ductwork manufacture work and project management activities to redevelop the Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr Tydfil.
The redevelopment is an integral part of the regeneration strategy for Merthyr Tydfil. The council wishes to promote redevelopment at Rhydycar, creating new leisure facilities for the community that are sustainable and affordable.
Charters Ascot
The original mansion through the years has been visited by many infamous names including Winston Churchill and The Duke and Duchess Of Windsor.
Charters, near Ascot is an architectural gem set amidst an enviable setting of some twenty acres of landscaped gardens. The highly important 1930s country house is undergoing a full restoration including two new remarkable and sensitively designed buildings. The Mansion which is a Grade-2 listed building of 1938, will be restored to showcase its original Art Deco grandeur, featuring six unusually spacious apartments on two floors and one exceptionally large duplex.
The order was placed with Southern Ventilation in November 2006 to coordinate, manufacture and install the ductwork throughout the apartments and also to supply specialist fire rated car park systems, Health spa and swimming Pool areas, the project is currently being managed by our experienced project managers and their teams at each stage of the construction.
Due to the listed status of the building the design and routing of the systems has had to compliment the building to enable the retention of its listed features. Southern Ventilation Limited are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious and historic project.
Harefield Academy
The £26 million development at Harefield academy has been built in close collaboration with Watford FC directors and local businesses and is a phenomenal achievement. With the vision to bring high quality accessible schooling back into the public sector.
The state-of-art buildings have every facility for modern and exciting learning and teaching. With a purpose built dry training facility for football, a full sized Astro Turf, Outdoor pitches and athletics track, Netball/basketball courts, a sports hall with a 'state-of-the-art' fitness suite, Gymnasium and dance hall.
Our project engineer has worked closely with the clients to deliver a faultless ductwork installation since the inception of our contract in June 2007, with the project due for completion within the next few weeks.
Lakeside North Harbour
1000 Lakeside is an impressive building with huge presence and impact. It is set to provide office accommodation over ground and 3 upper floors, each of approximately 72,000 sq ft, refurbished to provide new suspended ceilings, recessed lighting, carpets and air conditioning.
This project has required a highly complex ductwork design due to the intricacy of the interior, and Southern Ventilation have been on hand since June 2007 supplying fitters and parts as required. The CAD team have consistently changed and modified plans as the client specifies to keep the project running on time.
Travelodge T5
A fantastic development designed to serve the expanding air passenger terminal at London Heathrow. Built from scratch it will provide typical business accomodation. Southern Ventilation have been involved in this project from the outset and are now in the process of finishing off major works, with a view to completing the second fix within the coming weeks. Working for such a large hotel chain was again a privelege and such a high profile position can only drive forward Southern Ventilation as a leading ductwork manufacturer.
Jurys Inn, Brighton
Centrally located adjacent to the railway station, Jurys Inn Brighton is in the heart of the New England quarter of the city, a new urban area comprising retail, hotels, housing, community and educational facilities.
The Jurys Inn Brighton represents yet another major hotel chain building new sites and developing at a rapid rate. Southern Ventilation Limited were on hand in association with architects and engineers to develop a complete ductwork system for the hotel that was to a strict specification.
Spinnaker Tower
Soaring above the Portsmouth skyline is the impressive 170 meter high Spinnaker Tower.
A phenomenal attraction with views spanning across the english channel. The project was a genius of engineering, combining modern design with function and stability. Yet for Southern Ventilation it proved a stunning example of how we can design and supply systems for the most intricate and complex buildings. Not only was space at a premium with the structure but fitting at height at various stages in the construction posed multiple problems.
Solent Business Park - Forums 5-6
Following on from the success of forum 3 and 4 within the Solent Business park,
Southern Ventilation were employed for a third consecutive project. Southern Ventilation were specifically identified as a key part of the construction process for our abiltiy to work constantly to programme and to a very high standard.
Forums 5 -6 provided another fantastic opportunity for Southern Ventilation Limited. The two dedicated and ajoined office buildings are set in a modern, landscaped environment just off of the M27 near Southampton. Southern Ventilation were the ideal option being able to serve such contracts from both their Poole and Southampton based workshops. Completed in early summer 2007, following a full Design and install, the complex is up and running.
Chiswick Moran Hotel
Nestled in tree lined Chiswick High Road, West London, the four star Chiswick Moran Hotel is ideally positioned for both Heathrow Airport and Central London. It is a great base for business or leisure visitors and sports fans alike because it has excellent transport links.
The refurbishment of an old office block into the four star luxury it is now, took all the engineering guille that Southern Ventilation could muster in order to meet requirements and not upset the classic look of the hotel. The system in place was designed and redesigned as the overall layout of the hotel changed during construction. Our project management team kept on track none the less and finished on time and within budget!!
Lymington Hospital
The brand new, purpose built £36 million Lymington New Forest Hospital has a wide range of features that will benefit both patients and staff working at the facility. The order value for this project was circ 450k and although the Mechanical contractor was a little apprehensive in placing an order of such value with a new sub-contractor, the concerns were swiftly put to rest due to our excellent conduct on site and standard of work. The new build project was a excellent opportunity for Southern Ventilation to show a new client of our determination and ability to deliver a quality product on time. Since this project we have forged strong links with the mechanical contractor and in turn this has led to further projects with future works in the pipeline.
Now in full function the Lymington hospital serves in the heart of the new forest.
